Gynecological cytology, also known as a Pap smear, is a gynecological examination used to diagnose changes, lesions, and pathologies of the uterus, such as inflammation, infection with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), and cancer. It also allows the detection of sexually transmitted bacteria, such as Trichomonas vaginalis.
