Immunization against Respiratory Syncytial Virus in children
The first immunization campaign against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in pediatric age for the autumn/winter 2024-2025 season advanced this month of October, the date from which immunization against infection by this virus became available.
It is available free of charge in all maternity hospitals in the public, private and social sectors, for children born between October 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025. Very common and contagious, RSV is the main cause of bronchiolitis and viral pneumonia in babies and young children.
