Obstetric Ultrasound is a harmless examination to see the fetus inside the uterus.
It is a technique that can be performed vaginally and / or abdominally (depending on gestational age and conditions) and allows visualization of various factors and characteristics of fetal development.
In a low-risk pregnancy, according to the Directorate General of Health and the Technical Commission of Ultrasound, 3 ultrasound examinations should be performed:
Obstetric Ultrasound of the first Trimester
Second Trimester Obstetric Ultrasound
Third Trimester Obstetric Ultrasound
An ultrasound may be done prior to the tests to determine the time of pregnancy.
