The number of detected cases of STIs such as gonorrhea, syphilis or chlamydia is increasing in Portugal, especially in younger age groups.

Take precautions: always use a condom and avoid having sex, even protected sex, when an infection is suspected. Some of the symptoms of infection: abnormal vaginal discharge, often with a bad smell or urethral discharge, presence of blisters, warts or vesicles on or around the genitals, pain or burning sensation when urinating and during sexual intercourse, diffuse lower back pain from the belly.
